Revolutionising safety through smart earthing management with DEHNrecord SD EPMS

Smart Grounding, Instant Alerts, Continuous Protection

Earthing systems are designed to protect people and equipment. They discharge fault and lightning currents, static discharges and electromagnetic interference. A functional earthing system can increase the reliability of electrical installations, reduce damage caused by lightning strikes and fault currents and, as a result, avoid unnecessary downtime and costs. Reliable earthing and earthing integrity are essential requirements for ensuring that installations, systems and equipment are safe and function properly. Regular inspection of the earth-termination system is therefore a mandatory part of various safety standards. Data trends help experts to analyse and maintain the earthing system. DEHNrecord SD EPMS makes it possible to monitor the resistance of the earthing system in real time and to record the trend of earth resistance values with time series data via a cloud.

DEHNrecord SD EPMS is a next-generation online earthing management system for the protection and safety of earthed installations in electrical infrastructure. It offers an intelligent end-to-end automation solution that helps to increase safety, improve reliability, maximise operating time and optimise the use of existing infrastructure. Whether airports, data centres, refineries, substations, train stations, EV stations or hospitals – the parameters for each application can be defined by the user.

DEHNrecord SD EPMS offers a one-touch IoT platform (web and mobile app) that enables comprehensive, real-time monitoring of the entire earthing infrastructure. Intelligent diagnostics and data-driven measures increase system efficiency and reliability. The device has three separate channels for measuring earth resistance, neutral-to-earth voltage and detecting an open earth connection. The universally recognised 3-pole method is used for the earth resistance measurement because it produces precise and reliable results. This method uses three electrodes: a current probe, a voltage probe and the earth electrode.

In addition, the earth fault current can be measured at system level using external CBCT (core balance current transformer). This is an important function for detecting and monitoring earth faults in electrical systems. If necessary, protective measures can be initiated quickly, thus increasing the safety and reliability of electrical systems. DEHNrecord SD EPMS supports wired and wireless connectivity via WiFi and TCP/IP enable real-time data to be updated in the cloud. Local data access is also possible via RS485 Modbus.
