SPHEREA Unveils ATEC ATMOS Test Bench at MRO Europe 2025

On the occasion of MRO Europe, taking place from October 14 to 16 in London, SPHEREA, designer of test solutions and associated services, presents the latest addition to the ATEC family: ATMOS, an automatic test bench (ATE) based on a generic core designed for testing electronic equipment with a  reduced number of signals.

ATEC ATMOS is a new, simple, and open test platform for aerospace production and maintenance.

ATEC ATMOS meets a wide range of needs. It will be used primarily for avionics testing, but also for mechanical, mechatronic, and optronic applications, serving different purposes and markets.

ATEC ATMOS is compact, affordable, and open, and is compatible with customer hardware and software. Smart and connected, it seamlessly integrates with the SPHEREA software suite for advanced data exploitation. For greater efficiency, ATEC ATMOS is flexible thanks to its modular architecture, all integrated into a single, simple platform to facilitate MRO operations worldwide.

ATEC ATMOS: compact, powerful, and sustainable.

With ATEC ATMOS, SPHEREA delivers the perfect balance of testing performance, durability, and services— distilled to its essence.

Compact, intelligent, and easy-to-use, ATEC ATMOS adapts to the specific needs, applications, and ambitions of the aerospace industry—whether manufacturers or maintenance providers—enabling sustainable production and maintenance while mobilizing only the necessary resources to optimize investment.

  • ATEC Family : ATMOS is the latest addition to the large ATEC family. It benefits from SPHEREA’s expertise developed with ATEC, as well as from all associated components, technologies, and services, with guaranteed long-term availability. In fact, the ATEC Series 6 (EIS 1993) is still supported today, with a commitment to 15 years of continued service. The ATEC Series 7 will be available for decades to come, and ATEC ATMOS is already positioned for the next 20 years.
  • + Small : ATMOS is the champion of accessibility: it features a compact design, an affordable budget, simplified use, and energy efficiency.
  • + Open : ATMOS is compatible with various market test software environments (TestStand, SMART, Visual, C language, ATLAS, LabVIEW, etc.), as well as with the ATEC Series family, and is based on COTS instrumentation. It can also be equipped with a cybersecurity drawer.

compact, and more flexible for our customers to optimize performance in maintenance and support engineering through SPHEREA’s expertise. Indeed, ATMOS, by sharing the same instruments as ATEC, delivers identical performance.”

Our ambition: to complement, streamline, and open up the ATEC range without compromising the quality that has made it renowned. We aim to make it more accessible while providing our customers with the same expertise and level of service, enabling them to test and maintain smaller yet equally essential equipment.

ATEC ATMOS integrates seamlessly into your processes and adapts to your ecosystem to ensure reliability and longevity.” Olivier Sentier, Head of Products Lines SPHEREA.

Optimization and simplification of MRO operations

SPHEREA offers test solutions to increase the availability and operability of critical systems. Aerospace, defense, transportation, and energy: worldwide, SPHEREA supports its customers throughout the entire lifecycle of their projects, thanks to its unique industrial expertise and an agile,  tailored  approach  to  meet  their  challenges.

The deployment of ATEC ATMOS relies on the synergy between SPHEREA’s R&D teams and its customers, including manufacturers, MROs, and leading global industrial players. This diverse expertise supports technological evolution while optimizing innovation efforts.

ATEC ATMOS allows functional testing of one or multiple pieces of equipment on the production line (Production Acceptance Test) or in maintenance (Return To Service) : Control Panel, Sensor, Display, Data Switch, Concentrator, etc., as well as a reduced number of signals such as Radio Components, Power Electronics, Electro-Mechanical, and Electrical Components. It also relieves generic test benches while giving customers the opportunity to develop their own test programs.

Choosing ATMOS means benefiting from ATEC guarantees, namely having a system supported over the long term, thereby optimizing industrial investment. Indeed, SPHEREA provides sustainable support for its systems, sometimes over several decades. Repair expertise, obsolescence management, and durability allow its teams to adapt to all requirements and comply with customers’ product policies, a true lever for CSR commitment.

The ATEC ATMOS technology is based on a generic core (innovative communication) with the following components:

  • Cybersecurity drawer
  • Energy consumption management module
  • ‘MEMO’ data analysis software module to make the most of test data
  • Supervision module

Time savings are guaranteed by automating test processes to avoid manual procedures, along with improved profitability that allows for adopting compliant, repeatable, and more cost-effective quality processes.

ATEC ATMOS also reduces maintenance requirements on the test benches: the reliability and longevity of SPHEREA solutions, combined with the quality of service, ensure maximum efficiency.

Although designed to be more accessible, ATEC ATMOS provides the same level of rigor and quality of service as ATEC solutions.

All ATMOS components are compatible with ATEC. ATEC customers will benefit from the Series 7 support contract, for optimal daily cost rationalization: same stock, same metrology instruments, and same common maintenance and training framework.

ATEC ATMOS is the result of pooling elements from SPHEREA’s various catalogs and resources. By standardizing test solutions with ATEC ATMOS, a modular, unique, flexible bench capable of (almost) everything, customers can configure and create the solutions and applications they need.
