Mouser Electronics, Inc., the industry’s leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components, is now stocking the MCX E reliability/safety-focused microcontrollers (MCUs) from NXP Semiconductors. The MCX E series joins NXP’s broader MCX Industrial and IoT microcontroller portfolio and is a rugged, safety-focused offering, complemented by NXP’s SafeAssure documentation suite, with pre-certified libraries for IEC 60730 Class B appliance compliance and software frameworks for IEC 61508. The NXP MCX E MCUs are designed for harsh electrical environments, including HVAC, unmanned vehicles, industrial automation, robotics, and other safety-critical applications.
NXP’s MCX E reliability/safety-focused MCUs, now available at Mouser, allow developers to build secure and reliable systems without compromising performance. With a robust 5V architecture, built-in safety diagnostics, and industrial-grade temperature ratings, the MCX E series ensures reliable operation in electrically and thermally challenging edge environments. The scalable MCX E series features an Arm Cortex-M4F and Arm Cortex-M7 processors with floating-point and digital signal processing (DSP) extensions, in addition to up to 4MB of Flash and 512kB of ECC-protected static random-access memory (SRAM). The MCX E MCUs support advanced communications interfaces, including CAN-FD, Ethernet, and low-power serial communication, enabling seamless integration into complex embedded systems. The MCX E MCUs support 24/7 operation and are part of NXP’s Product Longevity program. They are capable of withstanding temperatures up to 135ºC. The MCUXpresso Developer Experience, Visual Studio (VS) code integration, and real-time operating system (RTOS) support accelerate development.
The MCX E Reliability/Safety-Focused MCUs are currently supported by the NXP Semiconductors FRDM-MCXE247 and FRDM-MCXE31B development boards based on the MCX E24 and MCX E31 MCUs. These design and evaluation platforms also include 64Mbit external serial flash, FXLS8974CF 3-axis accelerometer, NMH1000 magnetic switch, three TJA1057 Mantis high-speed controller area network (CAN) transceivers, an onboard Ethernet controller, and an integrated debug probe circuit. The boards also feature Arduino, Pmod, and mikroBUS headers to simplify expansion.
