Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has introduced two new models—NCU03WF104F6SRL and NCU03WF104F60RL —to its NCU03 series of copper electrode NTC thermistors. These thermistors feature an ultra-compact 0603M size (0.024 × 0.012 × 0.012 inch / 0.6 × 0.3 × 0.3 mm) and are designed for high-reliability applications, including automotive electronics. Mass production is already underway, and samples are currently available.
As the automotive industry advances toward autonomous driving and IoT integration, circuit boards are becoming increasingly populated with electronic components, resulting in higher component densities. At the same time, the growing complexity of ADAS and telematics technologies is placing greater thermal stress on these components, intensifying the risk of overheating. This trend is driving demand for technologies that enable precise temperature monitoring and reliable overheating detection in compact, high-density environments.
In response, Murata has developed this compact thermistor using its proprietary process technology. Despite its reduced size, the product retains the same resistance value and B-constant as Murata’s existing 1005M-size (1.0 × 0.5 × 0.5 mm) thermistors, allowing for drop-in replacement without requiring circuit redesign. This contributes to increased component density and further miniaturization of circuit boards.
This product is suitable for a wide range of high-reliability applications, including automotive electronics and base stations, as well as consumer devices. Murata remains committed to expanding its product lineup to meet evolving market needs and to support greater mounting density and miniaturization in advanced electronic systems.
