MPM sound signalers – reliable acoustics in a compact form

In many devices and systems, from simple alarms to advanced industrial machines, sound signals remain the fastest and most effective way to alert about an event. This is one of the areas where the Polish company MPM specializes, a manufacturer of a wide range of acoustic signalers that have been recognized for years in industries such as security, automotive, and industrial automation. TME offers both electromagnetic sound signalers MPM and piezoelectric devices.

Electromagnetic and piezoelectric signalers – two technologies, the same goal

The MPM signalers available at TME can be divided into two main groups based on technology:

  • electromagnetic signalers – designed mainly for operation with a voltage of 12-24V DC or 90-250V AC. They are characterized by high acoustic efficiency and a stable, repeatable signal.
  • piezoelectric signalers – utilize the vibrations of a piezoceramic element. They are available in versions with a built-in generator (standalone devices) and without a generator (transducers for integration with their own control system).

This distinction allows for selecting not only the type of sound source but also the method of control and integration with the system.

MPM piezoelectric signalers – principle of operation and applications

The family of piezoelectric transducers and signalers MPM available at TME includes popular series PCA and B2/B3 in various housing designs and colors (white, black, red).

Signaler with intermittent signal at a sound level of 80…90dB.

Piezoelectric signalers without a generator

Models PCA (e.g., PCA-2B, PCA-3B, PCA-3U) are piezoceramic transducers with a resonant frequency of 3.5kHz, achieving a sound level of 110dB. Due to their small size and low weight, PCA signalers are ideal for alarms, sensors, electronic locks, and other warning systems with limited mounting space.

Piezoelectric signalers with a generator

The B2/B3 series consists of piezoelectric buzzers with a generator, powered by 12V DC or 24V DC, with a current consumption of around 30mA. Available in intermittent (alarm) and continuous signal versions, with sound levels reaching 100dB. The manufacturer offers several color variants and two types of housings (marked with numbers 2 and 3), facilitating integration with various types of panels and device housings.

In practice, MPM piezoelectric signalers are used in both alarm systems and industrial machines. In the latter, they signal operation, failure, or the end of a cycle. They stand out for their high volume in a compact size, mechanical resistance, and easy installation, even in hard-to-reach places.

MPM electromagnetic signalers – technology and acoustic properties

Electromagnetic signalers generate sound through the vibrations of a magnetic element powered directly by direct or alternating current voltage. The offer includes both low-voltage models (12–24V DC) and mains models (90–250V AC).

The SPU series signaler offers a signal at a level of 110dB.

Among the most frequently chosen products are the SAWA, SDA, and SPU series, which differ in shape, sound level, and voltage range.

  • signalers SAWA-1 and SAWA-2 are compact devices in a rectangular housing, designed for surface mounting,
  • model SDA-1 is a signaler in the form of a small module with wires, ideal for embedding in the device’s circuit board,
  • signalers SPU-1A, SPU-1B, SPU-1C, SPU-1P are versions with a large diameter (about 80mm), designed to operate with a voltage of 90–250V AC, generating sound with an intensity of up to 110dB.

Thanks to high acoustic efficiency and an intermittent signal, MPM products are excellent as warning signalers in building automation, household appliances, ventilation systems, or control panels.

Quality of workmanship and compatibility of MPM signalers

All MPM signalers are produced with attention to quality and repeatability of parameters. The housings are made of durable ABS plastic, resistant to mechanical damage and environmental factors. The designed length of the mounting wires facilitates integration with the device, and the small weight and diameter within 55–66mm allow for installation in limited spaces.

These products are characterized by stable frequency characteristics, repeatable sound levels, and compliance with safety standards. MPM emphasizes that all components are manufactured in Poland, ensuring constant quality control and quick access to spare parts.

Where is it worth using MPM signalers?

The wide range and universal operating voltages make MPM products applicable in many areas such as:

  • alarm and security systems,
  • industrial automation and production machines,
  • access control and electronic locks,
  • signaling operation and failure of devices,
  • household appliances, fans, HVAC controllers,
  • automotive industry (e.g., reversing sensors, warning systems).

The MPM signalers available in TME’s offer combine high sound levels, durability, and compact design. Their parameters and variety of designs allow for selecting a solution suitable for a specific project or work environment.
