RACK Cabinets and Server Enclosures of the Lanberg Brand

BY TME

Whether we are organizing an advanced server room or a local network installation in a small office – the best choice for housing the installation will be RACK cabinets. The Lanberg brand offers standardized, specialized, and solid solutions in this area.

Telecommunication systems are almost always constructed based on RACK cabinets, as they offer flexibility in many aspects: cable management, cooling, scalability, and easier access for service technicians and maintenance personnel.

Lanberg brand RACK cabinets are a comprehensive solution for organizing, mounting, and protecting telecommunications equipment, servers, switches, routers, and many other network devices. These products comply with the RACK 19” standard, which is widely used in the IT industry, telecommunications, and monitoring systems. Lanberg’s offer includes hanging, standing, and open (open rack) models in various sizes and colors. Below we discuss this assortment divided into the basic types of solutions.

Server Enclosures

Server enclosures serve to mount motherboards and the components placed on them inside a RACK cabinet. Lanberg offers several solutions here. All are designed for cabinets with a width of 19 inches but come in versions adapted to motherboards in ATX format (including Micro-ATX and ITX) or only ITX (more compact) and heights from 1U to 4U. The latter allow for free placement of expansion cards in the computer’s slots, e.g., network interfaces or graphics coprocessors increasingly used for artificial intelligence computations. Since system expansion involves increased heat production, the enclosures have installed or provide for fan installation (up to 120mm), both front, rear, and on the partition wall, to improve air circulation.

It is worth noting that the largest enclosures presented are adapted for use in NAS-type applications or directly in data centers, as they offer space for 10 HDD 3.5” disks and 3 in 2.5” size (of course, nothing prevents using adapters for other SSD formats). For maintenance purposes, the enclosures have USB interface outlets compliant with generation 3.0.

Rack Cabinets

In the next section, we describe RACK cabinets designed for mounting computers and other infrastructure components. It should be emphasized that the photos are illustrative and direct to our catalog, where you can choose among many different models – closed, open, perforated, glazed, in light and dark colors, etc.

Hanging 10-inch Cabinets

In offices, workshops, and residential buildings, it is very common to use hanging cabinets mounted on the wall, e.g., under the ceiling, where they won’t disturb people working or staying in the room. They come in versions capable of housing full-size computers, but more often the choice falls on more compact, 10-inch solutions, in which you can mount switches, routers, and even a power supply, a small file server, or possibly building automation controllers.

Lanberg’s offer includes closed versions with perforated walls as well as glazed doors, which facilitate visual inspection of the indicators customarily placed on devices in the RACK format on the front panel. This allows a technician to quickly verify whether a line is active and whether the computers signal proper operation.

The height of such cabinets ranges from 4U to 12U, and their depth does not exceed 310mm. Lanberg offers models in light gray and black, with several locking options (including locks).

Hanging 19-inch Cabinets

If there is a need to mount full-size, 19-inch RACK components, the option of using a suspended enclosure still exists. Its depth may range from 200mm to 600mm, so even this format allows obtaining compact enclosure dimensions. Available heights are from 4U to 27U, capable of accommodating a complex infrastructure sufficient to serve an entire office or even a database server or web service.

The enclosures have numerous ventilation slots, and some models also include additional inspection doors. The reinforced, modular construction ensures secure mounting and stable anchor points for network components – although these enclosures are supplied in parts and designed for self-assembly.

Open, Standing 19” RACK Cabinets

The cabinet offer is complemented by open rack 19” modular solutions. They are made of steel parts. Heights range from 9U to 15U (577…844mm). They meet the requirements of installations located in designated technical rooms – providing both a solid frame for devices and optimal cooling of components. They have wheels and stabilizing screws with feet. Their depth is 657mm, which means they can accommodate routers, switches, and computers, providing enough space to build a compact server. The largest models can hold a total load of up to 600kg.

The cabinet has both wheels and leveling stabilizers.
