The BC15, based on the Nordic nRF54L15 System-on-Chip (SoC), is a compact, Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) 6.0 module featuring an Arm Cortex-M33 microcontroller (MCU). The BC15 modules accelerate time-to-market for wireless Internet of Things (IoT) products, medical and smart home devices, remote and gaming controllers, and other applications.
The BC15 modules, now at Mouser, provide 1.524 MB of Flash, 256 KB of RAM, an embedded 2.4 GHz multiprotocol transceiver, and an integrated chip antenna or a u.FL for an external antenna. With Bluetooth 6.0, the BC15 modules support wireless connectivity while offering improvements in speed (up to 4 Mbps), latency (down to ~20ms), and range (up to 300m). The modules’ stand-out features include channel sounding for high precision, UWB-like tracking, decision-based advertising for improved efficiency, and enriched LE Audio support.
The BC15 modules embed both 32 KHz crystals and DC-DC converter inductors. Requiring no external components, the BC15 modules enable faster time-to-market with lower development costs. The BC15 modules offer a range of platform security features, including secure/non-secure memory protection, a symmetric and asymmetric key crypto accelerator, tamper detection, and debug access port protection. The modules also feature an extensive range of peripherals, including two real-time counters (RTC), one global RTC (GRTC), seven 32-bit timers with counter mode, and near field communication (NFC), among others.
The BC15 Bluetooth 6.0 modules feature an operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. Development support for the BC15 modules is provided by the BC25 Bluetooth 6.0 EV-BC15x evaluation boards, also available from Mouser, with four variants available, tailored to each module version. The Nordic nRF54L15-DK development kit is required to program the boards.
