27th Japan IT Week Spring Ended Successfully: Japan’s Largest Business Platform

27th Japan IT Week Spring organised by Reed Exhibitions Japan was successfully held from May 9 to 11 at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan.

Japan IT Week Spring is the largest annual business platform in Japan for IT professionals, covering various sectors of IT ranging from microprocessors to the latest applications.

This year, companies from 23 countries exhibited and IT professionals from 49 countries such as Korea, China, USA, Taiwan, Poland, France and India visited. Especially with growing needs for the latest IT solutions and international outsourcing in Japanese IT market, the participation rate of overseas companies and pavilions has increased by 1.3 times and the overall size of the exhibition has increased by 10 percent.

27th Japan IT Week Spring consisted of 13 exhibitions and 57 conference sessions with 1,666 exhibitors. The number of visitors reached 102,441, increased by 15% from last year. In addition, 28,701 conference audiences and 383 members of the media attended the show.

One of the highlights of this year’s show was AI & Business Automation Expo Spring, newly launched to aid the increasing demands of investment to the field of AI & Automation Technology.
Especially, exhibits including back office/workflow automation, RPA/robot automation, chatbot & automated dialog system, and AI applications attracted a great deal of interest.

Japan’s leading companies such as NTT DATA, HITACHI SOLUTIONS, TOSHIBA DIGITAL SOLUTIONS, KONICA MINOLTA, and NOMURA RESEARCH INSTITUTE showcased their latest AI technology and automation solutions, which have contributed greatly to expand overall scale of the show.

At the conference sessions held parallel to the exhibition, ARM, HUAWEI and OMRON gave lectures on newly generated global market values, technical developments and essential next steps in the field of IoT and data revolution.
The three major Japanese mobile phone operators DOCOMO, SOFTBANK and KDDI also held special sessions and drew attention from audiences.

To conclude, Japan IT Week Spring successfully wrapped up this year and proved its reputation as the largest B2B exhibition in Japan’s IT industry once more.
As a result of this year’s satisfactory accomplishment, more than 80 percent of booth reservation for the next exhibitions: 9th Japan IT Week Autumn, 3rd Japan IT Week Osaka, and 28th Japan IT Week Spring, has already been completed.

For next year’s show, Japan IT Week Spring 2019 will be held twice, as availability of Tokyo Big Sight will be restricted due to preparation for Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Part 1 will be held from April 10 to 12 and Part 2 from May 8 to 10 at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan.
