Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), in collaboration with Samsung, India’s largest consumer electronics brand, felicitated 1,300 young participants trained under the flagship Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) initiative in Gorakhpur. The ceremony, held at the Yogi Baba Gambhirnath Prekshagrih Auditorium, was graced by the Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, who presented certificates to meritorious students and commended the programme’s role in advancing digital inclusion and future-ready education in the state.
Aligned with the Government of India’s Skill India and Digital India missions, the Samsung Innovation Campus — delivered through ESSCI-accredited training partners — equips youth with essential skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, and Coding & Programming. In Uttar Pradesh alone, 5,000 students are being trained this year — nearly one-fourth of the national target — positioning the state as a frontrunner in digital empowerment. Nationally, the initiative has achieved 44% women participation, reflecting a strong commitment to inclusive skilling and equitable growth.
Speaking on the occasion, Saleem Ahmed, Officiating Head, ESSCI, said, “At ESSCI, our mission has always been to bridge the gap between industry needs and workforce readiness. Through our partnership with Samsung, we are ensuring that young Indians, particularly from semi-urban and underserved areas, gain access to world-class training in emerging technologies. The enthusiasm and achievements of these learners in Gorakhpur are a powerful reminder that when education meets opportunity, transformation follows. Together, we are not just building technical skills — we are nurturing confidence, innovation, and pathways to dignified employment.”
JB Park, President and CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia, said, “Through Samsung Innovation Campus, we are not only educating youth in technical skills but nurturing creativity, confidence, and problem-solving abilities. These are not just skills of the future — they are the language of opportunity today. As a partner in India’s growth story, Samsung will continue to invest in talent and work closely with ESSCI, governments, and local institutions to create a digitally empowered, innovation-led Aatmanirbhar Bharat.” Launched in India in 2022, the Samsung Innovation Campus has already trained 6,500 students, with a target to upskill 26,500 youth nationwide by 2025. The programme combines technical learning with soft skills and placement support, enabling participants to transition seamlessly into employment or entrepreneurship.
Together, ESSCI and Samsung reaffirm their commitment to democratizing technology, strengthening India’s digital ecosystem, and preparing a generation of skilled professionals for Industry 4.0 and beyond.
