Anritsu Corporation has launched its RAIJIN PROJECT branding initiative, showcasing Japanese craftsmanship to the world through traditional Urushi lacquer art.
With this project, Anritsu aims to communicate the spirit embodied in both test instruments and lacquer craftsmanship, sharing its commitment to evolve by embracing new technologies and ideas, as well as its dedication to staying close to users by delivering reliable performance and quality that meets high expectations.
As a symbol of this initiative, Anritsu has collaborated with Kyoto-based Urushi lacquer workshop SATO KIYOMATSU SHOTEN to produce non-commercial, one-off concept models, which will be unveiled at MWC Barcelona 2026 (Hall 5, Stand D41, Anritsu booth) in Spain from March 2 to March 5, 2026.
In addition, Anritsu is releasing a brand movie expressing the RAIJIN PROJECT’s global vision on its corporate website (https://www.anritsu.com/en-in/about-anritsu/corporate-information/brand-campaign).
The key message is “Honor the Past, Engineer the Future.”, The film captures Anritsu’s longstanding philosophy of craftsmanship through powerful visuals.
RAIJIN PROJECT
The RAIJIN PROJECT is an initiative through which Anritsu, as it marks its 130th year, showcases Japanese craftsmanship to the world in collaboration with traditional Urushi lacquer art. While test instruments and lacquerware may seem worlds apart, they share a common mindset of continuous evolution by adopting new technologies and ideas, as well as a dedication to craftsmanship in close harmony with users’ expectations, delivering tangible, reliable performance.
Fujin and Raijin
Japan’s Fujin (Wind God) and Raijin (Thunder God) folding-screen National Treasure is a famous painting by the Edo-period artist Tawaraya Sotatsu. Set against a gold background, the dynamic composition depicts Fujin and Raijin facing each other.
Inspired by the traditional two-panel structure, this collaboration depicts Fujin and Raijin separately on a signal analyzer and a signal generator, respectively.
Across human history, wind and thunder have been revered not only in Japan but throughout Asia and the rest of the world as deified forces of nature. While representing immense power, they are also seen as symbols that bring harmony amid chaos. By using the Fujin and Raijin icons, this project symbolizes how Anritsu’s test and measurement technologies support a safe and secure society.
