We’ve figured out how the internet will look like and work in the future

What will the internet look like in the future, and how will we browse it? Hostinger, the web hosting company, has decided to answer this question. Not only answer but also visualize, with a little help from artificial intelligence (AI).

Here’s how it went: Hostinger experts in AI, web development, and design shared their thoughts on the future of the internet. Then, we used these insights and asked DALL·E 3 to visualize how today’s most popular websites from seven distinct categories will look in 2050.

“Our forecast is that in these years, traditional computers and phones will become obsolete. The internet will offer immersive experiences driven by augmented and virtual reality, allowing us to interact naturally through voice commands, gestures, or even thoughts.

Furthermore, each website will be hyper-personalized, customizing content and layouts for each visitor. AI will not only boost creativity and diversity, but also ensure relevance and reliability”, says Tomas Rasymas, Head of AI at Hostinger.

Ever heard about brain implants? They are still being tested; however, if we can use them to send and receive data, the possibilities are endless, Tomas adds. Online searches become a monologue in our heads, and the most important news of the day or encyclopedia entries could simply be uploaded into our memory.

Regardless of how the internet evolves, people will still create websites to share their stories, showcase businesses, or sell products and services.

“Of course, these websites will look completely different, adapted to meta verses, virtual reality, and AI devices such as the Rabbit R1. And publishing a website will be as simple as discussing a business idea with a friend. It won’t take a long time to get to that point, as we’re already heading in that direction: Hostinger AI Website Builder understands speech-to-text and can create a unique website filled with bespoke content from a single prompt”, says Tomas Rasymas.
