
SMTA Pan Pac 2026:
Indium Corporation Senior Technologist Ronald Lasky, Ph.D., P.E., will be among the presenters at the SMTA Pan Pacific Strategic Electronics Symposium (Pan Pac) taking place in Hawaii, February 2-5.
Dr. Lasky’s presentation, The Electron: A Biography, will examine the birth of the electron and how various discoveries have shaped the history of civilization. “At the end, we hope attendees will marvel at the effect the electron has had on the development of modern society and their own lives,” Dr. Lasky said. Tracing the story from an accidental discovery in 1820 through the development of electric motors and advancements in the modern era of radio and television, Dr. Lasky’s presentation is bound to educate and fascinate.
Dr. Ronald Lasky is a Senior Technologist at Indium Corporation with more than 30 years of experience in electronics and optoelectronics packaging. He has written six books, contributed to nine more, and authored numerous technical papers. Additionally, Dr. Lasky is a Professor of Engineering at Dartmouth College and has served as an adjunct professor at several universities, teaching more than 20 courses, including electronics packaging, materials science, physics, statistics, process improvement, and mechanical engineering.
Dr. Lasky holds numerous patent disclosures and is the developer of several SMT processing software products relating to cost estimating, line balancing, and process optimization. He is the co-creator of engineering certification exams that set standards for the electronics assembly industry worldwide. Dr. Lasky has received several SMTA honors, most recently the organization’s Member of Technical Distinction Award in 2021. He holds extensive credentials, including a Ph.D. in materials science from Cornell University, as well as a master’s degree in applied mathematics from Binghamton University.
