ROHM’s Sensor Shield Evaluation Kit,Integrates 10 Sensors for IoT Prototyping

Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now stocking the new SENSORSHLD1-EVK-101 Sensor Shield evaluation kit from ROHM Semiconductor. This second-generation Sensor Shield integrates 10 onboard sensors into a board with an Arduino Uno R3-compatible layout to ensure the kit works with existing open source prototyping platforms.

LPR_ROHMSensorShieldThe ROHM SENSORSHLD1-EVK-101 Sensor Shield evaluation kit, available from Mouser Electronics, enables design engineers to create build a sensor environment for prototyping and initial set development for Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) applications. The Sensor Shield removes the hardware and software challenges of switching out sensors by incorporating ROHM sensors on an Arduino Uno R3-compatible board: These sensors include:

  • BDE0600G analog temperature sensor
  • BU52014HFV omnipolar hall switch sensor with polarity discrimination
  • KX122 digital accelerometer
  • KXG03 digital gyroscope and accelerometer
  • ML8511A analog ultraviolet (UV) light sensor
  • RPR-0521 digital ambient light sensor and proximity sensor
  • BH1745 digital color sensor

In addition to these sensors, the board integrates a digital barometric pressure sensor, magnetometer, digital magnetometer and accelerometer, and digital microphone.

The ROHM Sensor Shield kit is compatible with many open source platforms, including the Intel® Arduino 101 development board and NXP LPCXpresso541xx development tools, allowing engineers to evaluate sensor-based designs for industrial, automotive, connected home, and other applications.
