Every year, leading valuation and strategy consultancy Brand Finance values the brands of thousands of the world’s biggest companies. Brands are first evaluated to determine their power / strength (based on factors such as marketing investment, familiarity, loyalty, staff satisfaction and corporate reputation) and given a corresponding letter grade up to AAA+. Brand strength is used to determine what proportion of a business’s revenue is contributed by the brand, which is projected into perpetuity to determine the brand’s value. The world’s most valuable IT services brands are ranked and included in the Brand Finance IT Services 15.

IBM is the world’s most valuable IT services brand with a value of US$19.4 billion, closely followed by Accenture at US%17.5 billion. However Indian brands are making the biggest impact in 2017. Fully one third of the brands in the list hail from India and are improving their rankings year on year.
TCS leads the way. It is now among the top three brands globally. “Its US$9.1 billion dollar value is the culmination of a stellar performance” says Brand Finance CEO David Haigh, “it represents an annual average brand value increase of nearly a billion dollars over the seven year tenure of former CEO N Chandrasekaran.”
Infosys is second amongst Indian brands and 6th globally. Its 30% year to year growth is strong, however the gap to the US’s Cognizant remains over US$2 billion so breaking into the top 5 may still be some way off.
HCL is the fastest growing amongst India’s brands this year, up 38% to US$4.5 billion and two places. Over the last 5 years, HCL has grown its brand value by 249% to become the fastest growing IT services brand in the world over that period.
