First Smart City in India – Dholera SIR Gujrat

Narendra Modi's Dream Project Dholera SIR

Dholera SIR is the first smart city in India located in the state of Gujarat. It is an ancient port-city in Gulf of Khambhat, connected with golden triangle. City will be connected to Mumbai, Delhi and Ahmadabad with a proposed six lane highway. According to a report published on economics times, city will be operational by 2019 with several industrial units and a population of around one Lakh.

City Development: Smart Homes Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd, the Indian wing of Singapore based Smart Infrastructure PTE. Ltd is developing the city.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT): Wipro, a major IT giant in India has been selected for providing ICT services in the city and will be responsible for smooth ICT infrastructure. With the world class ICT infrastructure, Dholera SIR would become India’s first smart city.

Construction of the city: Larsen and Turbot (L&T) has been awarded the contract of construction of the city, highways, metro and airport.

Vision: Dholera SIR and smart city project is a pet project of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, who had taken this initiative when has was the chief minister of Gujarat.
