Molex to Display Smart Manufacturing Solutions at Rockwell Automation Fair

Demonstrations include secure fiber optic ring, high-speed industrial wireless communications

Molex will showcase its smart manufacturing solutions at the 2017 Rockwell Automation Fair, November 15-16 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. Located at booth 2301, Molex will present new products and technologies designed to advance connectivity in high speed industrial wireless communications both inside the plant and to the enterprise network level.

“In the era of smart manufacturing, a secure and reliable network connection is essential to get the right data to the right people at the right time,” said Chuck Clark, industrial channel manager, Molex. “Our solutions on display at Automation Fair will show ways to eliminate downtime and improve production processes.”

Molex booth 2301 will highlight Molex automation solutions designed for applications in a range of industries, including oil and gas, petrochemical, refining, wastewater, milling, mining, packaging and manufacturing. Product displays will include:

Network Interface Cards provide reliable and cost-effective intelligent communication and control solutions for a wide range of industrial networks and fieldbuses.

CIP Safety Software and Development ToolKits which are available in the Rockwell Encompass Program, allow implementation of EtherNet/IP and CIP Safety protocols.

• PICS Simulation Software simulates real-world systems and machines controlled by DCS, PLC and PC control systems. The entire system communications, sequencing/ interlocking, HMI/SCADA and alarms) can be tested, all emergency faults can be verified and operators trained prior to the system going operational.

DeviceNet Diagnostic Tools such as; the handheld NetMeter DN, eNetMeter, Portable eNetMeter, NetAlytix Software allow DeviceNet users to not only troubleshoot existing network issues but, also allow for monitoring the health of the DeviceNet network.

SST ControlLogix Ethernet and Serial Communication Modules provide faster and easier connection for Modbus serial, Modbus/TCP, PROFIBUS and Siemens Industrial Ethernet to Rockwell Automation in the backplane modules.

SST CompactLogix Ethernet and Serial Communication Modules provide faster and easier connection for Modbus serial, Modbus/TCP and PROFIBUS to Rockwell Automation in the backplane modules.

Molex Booth Demonstrations

• Fiber Optic Ring: In a live demonstration, Molex will present its solution for a fully redundant fiber optic ring. Molex modules, powered by Phoenix Contact will show how the optic ring will keep the operation running even if there is a communication loss—a problem that used to cause production shutdowns. The Fiber Optic network connectivity system is designed to work with all Ethernet protocols, including EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, Modbus Serial and Siemens Industrial Ethernet.

• Industrial Wireless Communications: Molex also will showcase its comprehensive industrial wireless communication solutions, which are enabled by ESTeem. The high-speed wireless solutions operate in the 900Mhz, 2.4GHz, 4.95GHz and 5.8GHz frequency bands, using IndustrialMESH technology to provide a stable communications network, even in harsh environments. Applicable for industries ranging from food and beverage to packaging, water/wastewater and material handling, the Molex industrial wireless communication solutions also offer wireless capabilities for HMIs delivered to either a tablet or cell phone, multiple channel operations for added network flexibility and an optional GPS module for location tracking.
