The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) signed a MoU with Kolkata-based Seacom Skills University (SSU), the first private university of West Bengal, to develop Industry Integrated Degree Programmes for various Electronics Sub Sectors under New Education Policy (NEP) in collaboration with Industry Partners based on Industry requirements.
Objectives of the MoU are to offer world-class skill training, industry exposure through on job training/apprenticeship, multi entry – multi exit incorporating NSQF Qualification Packs as per the mandate from UGC. Mr. Piyush Chakraborty, Officiating Head signed on Behalf of ESSCI, and Mr. Anish Chakraborty, Chairman, Governing Body of SSU, signed the MoU.
Mr. Piyush Chakraborty expressed confidence that the SSU will help in promoting skill based education in India through various activities and to develop world class Centers of Excellence (CoE) in collaboration with Industry Partners that offers a quality skill training ecosystem for students. Whereas, SSU shall constitute the Board of Studies comprising the CoE, model training centers and labs as advised by ESSCI for the various skill-based courses.
Mr. Chakraborty said that ESSCI and SSUwould jointly work towards aggregating the industry skill demand and will develop the courses for students that would be helpful for employment and self-employment.
“ESSCI will support placement services for students of SSU who would get qualified & certified on the Qualification Packs designed by ESSCI through its job portal services. We will align the training requirement of SSU requirement and shall also facilitate internships, apprenticeships to students enrolling for various skills based courses,” he said. ESSCI will help to develop mentors-learning management systems, learning tools and training for students by industry experts.
