Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has made a major announcement on the country’s first Made in India Semiconductor chip release during a ‘Global Investors Summit 2025’ event held in Bhopal, he made it official through a video call at the gathering.

According to his statement, in 2025 India is going to get its first semiconductor chip, after which its mass production will begin. He further stated Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Madhya Pradesh got approval for two electronics manufacturing cluster in Bhopal and Jabalpur respectively.

Talking about the Madhya Pradesh electronics sector, he stated that currently, MP has 85 companies actively engaged in electronics manufacturing, and the government is supporting the industry. Under the Future Skills Program, 20 thousand engineers will be trained to strengthen the industry in Madhya Pradesh.

India is also set to design its first microcontroller chip which will be launched by Mindgrove Technologies, Chennai in coming six to seven months.  The chip will support IoT, Control devices and Electric Vehicle battery management. The chip has been tested, and there are some changes in its prototyping and design. The secure IoT chip will have numerous applications like wearables, smart city devices, thermal printing, and Point-of-sales (PoS). About its production, the Co-founder and CEO stated they are in talks with different companies and will be launched soon as the deal finalised.

He further stated the company has stared working in second chip called Vision SoC which will be used for high performance & computing and video processing application.

Electronics Manufacturing Sector Surpasses ₹10 Lakh Crore Milestone

India has witnessed unprecedented growth in the electronics manufacturing sector over the past decade, reaching a valuation of ₹10 lakh crore. Currently, India exports electronics worth ₹2.5 lakh crore, including mobile phones (₹4 lakh crore), laptops, servers, telecom equipment (₹75,000 crore), as well as defense and medical electronics. Electronics has become one of the top three export items.
