Rohde & Schwarz launches revolutionary super wideband mobile network scanner, setting new standard for 5G

The new Rohde & Schwarz TSMS8 scanner boasts industry-leading frequency range and speed to optimize 5G and prepare for 6G networks.

Rohde & Schwarz, a global leader in test and measurement solutions, announced the launch of the R&S®TSMS8 super wideband mobile network scanner, alongside the complementary R&S®TSMS-OMN8 broadband antenna. This groundbreaking solution substantially expands testing capabilities, enabling mobile network operators, service providers, and government agencies to optimize network performance, improve efficiency, and prepare for the future of mobile communications, including 6G.

The R&S®TSMS8 scans an unparalleled frequency range of 10 MHz to 8.5 GHz, covering a broader spectrum than any competing scanner on the market. A front-end bandwidth of up to 400 MHz and the outstanding scanning speed make the TSMS8 a unique scanner solution, allowing for significantly more measurements in the same drive testing route, reducing re-drives and boosting efficiency. It simultaneously supports all major cellular technologies, from GSM to 5G, and covers mmWave frequencies up to 53 GHz in combination with the downconverter R&S®TSMS53DC.

“Rohde & Schwarz continues to demonstrate its commitment to the mobile network testing market with innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of our customers,” said Axel Hansmann, VP of Mobile Network Testing division at Rohde & Schwarz. “The R&S®TSMS8 is a game-changer, offering unmatched speed, breadth of coverage, and a future-proof platform for technologies like 6G. It empowers our customers to optimize their networks more effectively than ever before.”

This new solution addresses several key industry challenges, including the need for measurements on very low frequencies used by mission-critical networks like TETRA/P25, and on new bands above 6GHz like n104. The scanner’s speed and multi-technology capabilities drastically reduce the time required for network engineering, optimization and benchmarking, while powerful IQ streaming capabilities in a compact form factor will enable diverse applications beyond traditional network testing, such as drone detection and signal intelligence. It also boasts benefits for analysis of cellular network environment, by enabling various cellular network analysis use cases needed by law enforcement agencies, intelligence services, armed forces, and regulatory authorities.

Rohde & Schwarz continues to invest in innovative solutions for the mobile network testing market. Building on the recent launch of the R&S®LCM network performance monitoring probe, the TSMS8 reaffirms our position as a trusted partner for carriers and regulators worldwide by offering unmatched frequency range, scanning speed, and future-proof design.
