ThingWorx Ecosystem Improves No-Programming Field Device Integration

Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) company Sierra Monitor has announced that its product line of FieldServer IIoT gateways is now compatible with PTC’s ThingWorx Internet of Things (IoT) platform. The FieldServer IIoT gateway Starter Kit with ThingWorx Adapter is now available on the ThingWorx Marketplace.

The family of FieldServer IIoT gateways provides original equipment manufacturers the means to talk to field devices that use over 140 communication protocols, both open and proprietary, including LonWorks, Metasys N2, KNX, XML, SNMP, M-Bus, Modbus and BACnet.

The FieldServer IIoT gateway with ThingWorx Adapter provides the additional functionality of connecting IIoT field devices to the ThingWorx cloud. This is accomplished with a Web-based configurator that requires no programming.
Altogether, Sierra Monitor’s new compatibility with ThingWorx aims to simplify the process of connecting and managing IIoT assets.

“Some of the leading IIoT applications being developed and deployed today are being written on the ThingWorx platform,” said Sierra Monitor CEO Varun Nagaraj. “We are pleased to have developed and qualified new software on our gateway that connects to the ThingWorx platform along with configuration software that maps virtually any field device to the platform without the need for any programming. We believe that the solution providers and enterprises that rely on the ThingWorx platform will recognize that the Sierra Monitor IIoT gateway addresses all of their edge connectivity needs.”
