ST Engineering Showcases Industry-Leading, Smart City Capabilities

IoT and Smart Parking innovations that address global city challenges unveiled at WETEX 2018

ST Engineering’s Electronics sector today showcased its smart city capabilities designed to help address the urbanization challenges of the Middle East. At the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition 2018 (WETEX 2018) in Dubai, it launched a suite of an Internet of Things (IoT) solutions that harness innovative technologies to enhance city management, manage transportation challenges and improve quality of life for residents.

Targeted solutions to solve prevalent issues

ST Engineering’s cloud-based Smart Car Park Platform utilizes Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and predictive analytic capabilities with advanced sensors and wireless communications that enable carpark operators to manage multiple parking systems concurrently. When implemented, these solutions will result in up to 25 percent reduction in
operating and maintenance costs. Motorists will also enjoy improved parking experiences due to time saved in car park searches.

Also on showcase is ST Engineering’s WISX IoT solution suite, which integrates best-of-breed IoT technologies, data analytics and communications solutions on a single platform to support holistic smart applications such as smart street lighting and indoor lighting, waste management, water and energy resource management, environmental monitoring and lift monitoring.

  • The WISX IoT Platform enables the sharing of resources, data, applications and analytic capabilities on a single platform. It will enhance operating efficiency and reduce maintenance costs. This makes it easier, faster and more cost-effective for municipals and businesses to adopt IoT applications and technologies.
  • The WISX Smart Street Lighting and On-demand Lighting embedded with intelligent light control, as well as predictive analytic capabilities, will help municipals realize up to 40% energy and maintenance cost savings.

“IoT solutions are fast becoming the cornerstone of global smart city initiatives, as they deliver optimized efficiency, significant cost savings and enhanced experiences for citizens,” said Mr. Yao Shih Jih, General Manager of Info-Comm Systems from ST Engineering’s Electronics sector. “As a key enabler of smart city transformation, we have implemented more than 15 million wireless sensors around global cities that enable smart street lighting, water resource management, and other smart city applications. For parking, we have garnered experience from managing more than 250,000 car park lots. We are excited to be a part of the Middle East Smart City journey, sharing our technological expertise and shaping their future tech-led cities.”

These Smart City capabilities will be available for preview and demonstration at WETEX 2018 from 23 to 25 October 2018 at booth no. DM8, Arena/SmarTech Hall, at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. For more details on the IoT solutions on showcase, please refer to Annex A.
