TIs’ Microcontrollers for Ultrasonic Flow Meters Now at Mouser

Mouser Electronics is now stocking the MSP430FR504x ultrasonic sensing microcontrollers from Texas Instruments (TI). Part of the TI MSP430 ultrasonic sensing microcontroller family, the powerful and highly integrated devices are designed for measuring flow in ultrasonic water, heat, and gas meters and flow transmitters.

The TI MSP430FR504x microcontrollers integrate an Ultrasonic Sensing Solution (USS_A) module that provides high accuracy for a wide range of flow rates. The MSP430FR504x microcontrollers can measure a maximum water flow rate of 8,800 liters per hour, achieving ±1 percent accuracy with a wide dynamic range of 500-to-1. The maximum gas flow rate is 12,000 liters per hour, with ±1 percent accuracy and a wide dynamic range of 200-to-1. The microcontrollers also offer optimized ultra-low-power modes such as active mode, standby mode with real-time clock (RTC), and shutdown.

The MSP430FR604x microcontrollers family integrates TI’s ferroelectric RAM (FRAM) and a holistic ultra-low-power MSP system architecture, allowing system designers to increase performance while lowering energy consumption. The microcontrollers are supported by extensive MSP430 FRAM hardware and software ecosystem with thousands of existing software libraries, reference designs, application notes, and driver framework to simplify development across the portfolio.
