Board-mounted AC/DCs have typically only been available in inconvenient through-pin technology but now, RECOM makes automated assembly easier with parts rated for JEDEC standard surface-mount reflow. The cost-effective RAC03-K/SMT series provides 3W output at 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 18, or 24VDC from a universal AC input of 85 to 265VAC (120 to 370VDC) in a package just 27.7 x 27.83mm footprint including ‘gullwing’ SMT terminations. Height is 19mm. Parts operate to an ambient temperature of 60°C without derating, (50°C for 3.3 and 5V outputs) and to 80°C at reduced power.
Common safety standards, IEC/EN/UL62368-1, EN60335-1, and IEC61558-1 are met, and parts are rated as Limited Power Source, reinforced isolation, Class II, and for over-voltage category OVCII installation at up to 6000m altitude (IEC 60335-1). EMC directive standards are met including conducted emissions to ‘Class B’ with no external components required (floating output). No-load power consumption is typically 100mW and the parts meet Eco-design standards for standby use.
The RAC03-K/SMT DC outputs are regulated and are fully protected against over-current and short circuits. Further enhancing reliability, the series achieves an MTBF close to 2M hours according to MIL-HDBK-217, GB conditions at 25°C ambient.
