Antaira Serial-to-Wireless Devices Enable Rugged 3-Way Communication for Industrial Networks

Serial-to-Wireless Device – Antaira unveils the STW-611C and STW-612C serial-to-wireless devices, engineered to give system integrators a fast, reliable way to bring legacy and modern serial equipment onto today’s wireless networks. Both eliminate the need to run new Ethernet cable, unlocking serial connectivity in locations where a wired network drop simply isn’t practical. The result is a dramatic drop in installation time, labor and cost, plus adaptability for technicians to deploy serial connectivity anywhere a network can’t easily reach, from remote equipment closets to hard-to-reach industrial floors.

Versatile 3-Way Communication

At the core of the STW-611C (one port) and STW-612C (two port) is a “bridge” mode that links any serial device and any Ethernet device to the same wireless network simultaneously. This is a true 3-way communication solution that gives integrators flexibility to mix legacy serial equipment with modern IP-based systems on a single wireless backbone.

For streamlined point-to-point deployments, both models are engineered with built-in Wi-Fi Direct technology — delivering instant, secure device-to-device connectivity with a single button press. Zero software configuration. Zero IT overhead. Zero downtime.

Built for Industrial Environments

Antaira designed the STW-611C and STW-612C to survive in the industrial environments where they’re deployed. Each unit ships in a compact, IP30-rated rugged aluminum case built to withstand dust and the everyday bumps of operations, and is rated to operate across a wide temperature range of -10° to 60° C for dependable performance in demanding environments. Power input is designed for 9~48VDC with reverse polarity protection to guard against wiring errors during installation, and both models mount via standard DIN-rail hardware, with optional wall-mount support for added installation flexibility.

Why Wireless Serial Connectivity Matters

Both models operate on the IEEE 802.11b/g/n standard in the 2.4GHz band, a near-universal wireless standard chosen for its long range and strong penetration through the walls, metal structures, and machinery typical of industrial facilities. For integrators, that translates into real operational advantages: legacy serial equipment — PLCs, sensors, meters, and older machine controllers — can join a modern IP-based network without being replaced or rewired, remote or hard-to-reach installations can be connected without the cost and labor of pulling new cable, and once online, that equipment can be configured, monitored, and troubleshot remotely rather than requiring a technician on-site.

Comprehensive Feature Set

The STW-611C and STW-612C deliver true 3-way communication, linking any serial or Ethernet device to a wireless network, and both support Wi-Fi Direct technology for simple point-to-point setup. Wireless connectivity is IEEE 802.11b/g/n compliant, with WPA, WPA2, and 802.1x security to keep industrial networks protected. Each unit provides a software-selectable RS232/422/485 serial port alongside a 10/100Tx RJ45 Ethernet port, with a serial data throughput rate of 110~921.6Kbps.

For network integration, the devices support Virtual COM, TCP/UDP Server/Client, and Tunneling modes, and can be configured through a built-in web console or Antaira’s Windows utilities, giving integrators a straightforward path to deployment regardless of their existing network architecture.

The Antaira STW-611C and STW-612C are available now through Antaira’s global distribution network. Antaira backs both models with a 5-year warranty.
