New at Mouser: Microchip AVR LA MCUs Enable Low-Power Capacitive Touch and Automotive HMI Applications

Microchip AVR LA MCUs – Mouser Electronics, Inc., the authorized global distributor with the newest electronic components and industrial automation products, is now shipping the new AVR® LA microcontrollers (MCUs) from Microchip Technology. The AVR LA MCUs feature a low 1.62V to 5.5V voltage and a small footprint, and making them well-suited for a wide range of applications, such as wearables, consumer electronics, home automation, industrial and medical equipment controls, battery-powered sensors, and automotive HMI applications.

The AVR LA MCUs, available from Mouser, are designed for capacitive touch interfaces and low-power embedded applications. The devices utilize an AVR CPU with a hardware multiplier, running at clock speeds up to 20 MHz, combining flexible low-power architecture with an event system, accurate analog subsystems, advanced digital peripherals, and a peripheral touch controller. The Microchip AVR LA MCUs support capacitive touch buttons, sliders, wheels, and 2D surfaces with Driven Shield+ and Boost Mode technologies, enabling designers to create responsive touch-based interfaces in compact embedded systems.

The AVR LA MCU family provides a robust, reliable and flexible platform for implementing modern, touch-based user interfaces and controls to meet stringent automotive standards and support the trend toward more intuitive and aesthetically pleasing vehicle interiors. The AVR LA series supports a wide operating voltage range, integrated serial communication interfaces, configurable custom logic, plus comes in 14-, 20-, 28-, and 32-pin package options.

Mouser also stocks the EV24D63A AVR32LA32 Curiosity Nano evaluation kit. The EV24D63A board includes an AVR32LA32 target device and provides full programming and debugging capabilities through the onboard Curiosity Nano programmer/debugger. The Curiosity Nano evaluation kit supports MPLAB® Tools for VS Code and MPLAB Melody, as well as partner toolchains for additional development flexibility. The board also supports an adjustable target voltage controlled by the onboard debugger, helping developers evaluate the AVR32LA32 operation across a wide voltage range.
