Mini PC A1

Mini PC A1: High computing power paired with a multitude of internal and external interfaces packed into a compact, robust housing—with these aspects in mind, Aaronia has designed the new A1 for demanding industrial, safety-critical, and mobile applications.

The system is powered by the high-end notebook processor from the Hawk Point series, AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS, with 8 cores and hyperthreading (SMT). The CPU uses the new Zen 4 architecture and clocks from 3.8 GHz (base clock) up to 5.1 GHz (single-core boost). The CPU is supported by an integrated AMD Radeon 780M GPU with 12 CUs and up to 2.7 GHz, including an AV1 video engine. This makes the Mini PC A1 suitable for graphics-intensive applications or parallel processing tasks. With 64 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, there is sufficient memory available for data-intensive processes, virtualization, or AI inference.

Interface monster

The range of interfaces is enormous. Users have ten USB interfaces at their disposal: 2 x USB-C 40G and 3 x USB-C PD 10G, each with 15W output power, plus 3 x USB-A 3.0 5G and 2 x USB-A 2.0. For network connection, the system offers 2 x RJ45 2.5GByte and an SFP+ 10GByte port. In addition, the PC is equipped with an SD card reader, a serial RS232 interface, an audio connection, and a DC connection for an external power supply.

The internal interfaces are equally generous. These include, in particular, the available M.2 ports and thus the options for expanding the system. The two M.2 2280 M-Key slots can accommodate NVME SSDs with a capacity of up to 8 terabytes each, and the two M.2 2242 M-Key slots can accommodate NVME SSDs with a capacity of up to 2 terabytes each. The M.2 2252 B-Key, for example, is suitable for accommodating a 4G/5G card, while the M.2 2230 E-Key slot is ideal for use with a WiFi or Bluetooth module.

Furthermore, internal connections are available for high-resolution displays with Embedded DisplayPort (eDP), a SIM card slot, PCIe slot, ports for camera and keyboard, fan, and internal battery.

Certified reliability

To ensure reliable operation even under harsh working conditions, the Mini PC A1 is equipped with a generously dimensioned heat sink with integrated fan. The built-in G-sensor detects vibrations. If a certain threshold value is exceeded, any measurements or work processes currently in progress are closed and saved. The computer is designed for operating temperatures of -40 to +70° Celsius. Since the A1 is CE, FCC, and RoHS certified, the system is also suitable for use in industrial environments. The anodized aluminum housing not only looks stylish, but also protects the electronics from dangerous impacts.

Individually configurable

Like all devices from Aaronia, the Mini PC A1 can be adapted to specific requirements by delivering the computer without an SSD, battery, or operating system. All common operating systems such as Windows 11, Linux, and Chrome OS are fully supported, allowing for maximum flexibility in software integration. Thanks to its compact dimensions of 220 x 140 x 44 mm, the Mini PC can be integrated in a space-saving manner as needed—whether in control cabinets, vehicles, or mobile applications.

“Aaronia has a long tradition of developing measurement technology equipment and is the global market leader with its SPECTRAN® V6 real-time spectrum analyzers and AARTOS DDS drone detection systems,” says Thorsten Chmielus, CEO of Aaronia AG. “The increase in the number of available USB interfaces was one of the reasons we started developing PC systems. In measurement technology, more and more peripheral devices need to be connected to real-time spectrum analyzers via USB. This quickly pushes all conventional devices to their limits, and runtime delays, among other things, make the use of USB extensions impossible.”

Peter May, Head of Measurement Technology at Aaronia AG, adds: “In addition, USB devices are increasingly being powered via the USB port, which requires a larger number of USB PD interfaces. Accordingly, we were constantly on the lookout for computer systems that met our requirements in terms of speed, storage capacity, and interfaces. So we finally started to develop the necessary hardware ourselves and are now pleased to present our first PC system.” More PCs will follow.

The Mini PC A1 is available at a price of €2,798.00.
