Mouser Electronics, Inc., the authorized global distributor with the newest electronic components and industrial automation products, is now stocking the new TMAG5134 In-Plane Hall-Effect switch from Texas Instruments. The TMAG5134 is a high-sensitivity, low-power digital switch designed to replace TMR, AMR, and reed switches for sensors, consumer, medical, IoT, and metering applications.
The TI TMAG5134 In-Plane Hall-Effect switch, available from Mouser, features an integrated magnetic concentrator that can detect magnetic fields as low as 1 milliTesla (mT), enabling higher sensitivity and lower power consumption compared to traditional Hall-Effect devices. The TMAG5134 switch provides omni-polar and dual-unipolar magnetic pole detection options, operating over a 1.65V to 5.5V power supply range and supporting multiple combinations of high-sensitivity thresholds and various sampling rates for a flexible system design that accommodates magnet selection, sensitivity, and power requirements. Additionally, the TMAG5134’s in-plane sensing capability enables it to detect magnetic fields parallel or horizontal to a printed circuit board, giving engineers greater design flexibility.
The TMAG5134 Hall-Effect switch helps extend battery life in sensing applications by consuming just 0.6µA on average, and its integrated magnetic concentrator technology amplifies the sensor signal, eliminating the need to bias the device with as much current.
These devices feature push-pull (CMOS) and open-drain outputs, eliminating the need for an external pull-up resistor, and are available in industry-standard SOT-23 and X1LGA packages. TI’s new in-plane Hall-Effect switch can replace incumbent position sensors that are more expensive and difficult to manufacture, enabling lower design costs in applications, such as door and window sensors, personal electronics, and appliances.
