Navitas Semiconductor’s NV6428 GaNFast Power Switch, Now at Mouser

Offers Breakthrough Performance for Industrial, Solar, and EV Applications

NV6428 GaNFast Power Switch:

Mouser Electronics, Inc., the authorized global distributor with the newest electronic components and industrial automation products, is now shipping the new NV6428 bi-directional GaNFast power switch from Navitas Semiconductor. The NV6428 power switch creates a paradigm shift in single-stage bi-directional switch (BDS) converters, enabling the transition from two-stage to single-stage topologies, to provide high efficiency, power density, and performance for solar, industrial, motor drive, and EV charging applications.

The Navitas Semiconductor NV6428 power switch, available from Mouser, is the world’s first production-released 650 V bi-directional GaNFast IC and high-speed isolated gate drivers that shift power within single-stage bi-directional switch converters (BDS), enabling the transition from two-stage to single-stage topologies. Over 70% of today’s high-voltage power converters use a “two-stage” topology that implements an initial power-factor-correction (PFC) stage followed by a DC-DC stage, with bulky “DC-link” buffering capacitors. The resulting systems can be large, lossy, and expensive.

The NV6428 GaNFast power switch consolidates the two stages into a single, high-speed, high-efficiency stage and, in the process, eliminates the bulky capacitors and input inductors, making the NV6428 an ideal choice for bidirectional GaN topologies that use 4-quadrant switches, like on-board and roadside EV charging, solar inverters, energy storage, and motor drives. The Navitas NV6428 power switches also feature a thermally enhanced, top-cooled SMD with gull-wing leads for excellent board-level temperature cycling.
