Raspberry Pi Based Industrial Controllers – We are proud to announce that Strato Pi Plus and Iono Pi v3 are now available. Built around the Raspberry Pi 4B or 5, these solutions integrate open-source computing with industrial-grade reliability for edge applications, field communications, and process control.
Strato Pi Plus: Edge Server with Multiple Isolated Serial Interfaces
Dual-Processor Architecture & Autonomous Supervision
Strato Pi Plus pairs the main processor with an independent Raspberry Pi RP2354 co-processor. The RP2354 runs entirely on its own to manage power cycle logic, hardware watchdog, power monitoring, fan control, relay output, and serial traffic. If the host OS becomes unresponsive, the RP2354 automatically recovers the system without requiring software on the main unit. Firmware updates are delivered via the Raspberry Pi’s GPIO for seamless field maintenance.
Three Variants
Strato Pi Plus comes in three hardware variants, each defined by its interface set:
- Variant A — 4 RS-485 + CAN + relay: four individually isolated RS-485 interfaces (built on the Analog Devices ADM2861E with ESD protection and programmable termination) for multi-bus Modbus RTU networks, eliminating external gateways; one isolated CAN interface supporting CAN 2.0B and CAN FD up to 8 Mbps; and a relay output driven directly by the RP2354.
- Variant B — 1 RS-485 + CAN + relay: one isolated RS-485 interface, one isolated CAN interface supporting CAN 2.0B and CAN FD up to 8 Mbps, and a relay output driven directly by the RP2354.
- Variant C — 1 RS-485: one isolated RS-485 interface. No CAN interface and no relay output.
All three variants are available with or without the internal fan.
Power, Hardware Security, and Expansion
- Power Supply: Accepts a wide 10÷50 V DC input rail to cover 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V industrial systems without an external converter.
- Real-Time Clock & Security: Integrated NXP PCF2131 RTC with a temperature-compensated oscillator (±3 ppm) keeps precise time through outages. A Microchip ATECC608 secure element handles hardware key storage and device authentication.
- Storage: microSD boot and storage as standard. Raspberry Pi 5 models will add optional M.2 SSD support in late 2026 for large, high-speed local storage.
- Sensors & Thermal Management: Optional 3-axis accelerometer for tamper/vibration monitoring and an optional internal fan controlled by temperature thresholds.
- Compliance & Configurations: Available with Raspberry Pi 4B or 5 (1 GB to 16 GB RAM), in CE, FCC, and IC compliant configurations.

Iono Pi v3: High-Performance Versatile I/O Module
Industrial Control Platform
Iono Pi v3 incorporates the Raspberry Pi 4B or Raspberry Pi 5 (1 GB to 16 GB RAM) into a certified, 4-module DIN-rail industrial controller. It features full standard connectivity — Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/BLE, 4 USB ports, and microSD — supporting any unmodified OS or stack (Linux, Node-RED, CODESYS, Python and more).
Versatile Industrial I/O
- Power Relays: 4 outputs rated 5 A at 250 V AC.
- Digital Inputs & Outputs: 6 protected digital inputs (0÷40 V) and 3 open-collector outputs with integrated fault detection.
- Configurable Lines: up to 7 bidirectional 5 V GPIO lines supporting 1-Wire sensors (DS18B20), Wiegand access control, and I²C devices.
- Auxiliary Output: 5 V auxiliary power supply line rated at 500 mA.
High-Precision Analog & Independent Protection
- 16-bit Precision ADC: Features a Microchip MCP3462 16-bit ADC running at up to 153.6 ksps. Includes 2 analog voltage inputs (0÷30 V) and 2 dedicated current inputs (0÷20 mA) for precise process measurement.
- Independent Watchdog & Power: Operates on a 9÷28 V DC supply with surge and reverse-polarity protection. An NXP PCF2131 RTC (±3 ppm accuracy) serves as an OS-independent hardware watchdog and enables timed sleep/wake cycles.
- Hardware Security & Software: Includes a Microchip ATECC608 secure element for hardware-based cryptographic identity. Managed entirely via Linux sysfs drivers; CE, FCC, and IC compliant.
