New Tarkett luminous vinyl flooring features Philips LED technology

Philips Lighting announces the launch of an innovative new vinyl flooring range from Tarkett featuring LED lighting technology.

Tarkett, a global provider of sustainable flooring products, has developed luminous vinyl flooring consisting of vinyl tiles embedded with cutting-edge LED technology from Philips Lighting. The luminous vinyl flooring presents several opportunities for retailers to advertise, interact with customers and guide them through any store or building.

Primarily aimed at retail and hospitality environments, Tarkett’s luminous vinyl flooring enables luminous messages, animations and adverts to be broadcast on the vinyl floor to provide unique customer experiences and help drive sales.

According to Anne-Christine Ayed, EVP Research, Innovation and Environment at Tarkett, they are passionate about helping their clients create unique spaces with their flooring solutions in all kinds of sectors such as retail, hospitality and offices where differentiation and brand identity are important objectives.

With the luminous vinyl flooring, Tarkett takes their ‘Unique Spaces’ innovation strategy to the next level, allowing floors to display dynamic messages or animations as well as grab people’s attention in an unprecedented way.

Key features of Tarkett’s luminous vinyl flooring include wide choice of decors and modern finishes such as wood, mineral effects and graphic designs; innovative light translucent formula enabling glowing effects on the vinyl floor; connected LED lights in the flooring allowing displays to be pre-programmed or personalised by a tap of a smartphone screen or the click of a mouse; and cloud-based content management system linked to external social media channels allowing real-time Internet content to be displayed.

Observing that light is increasingly being embedded into floors, walls and ceilings, Dr Bernd Voelpel, General Manager Luminous at Philips Lighting comments that Tarkett’s latest innovation extends this trend and offers new ways to engage shoppers, visitors and employees.

With Tarkett’s luminous vinyl flooring, light can be used to welcome and guide people, alert them to special offers and even advertise to them. When connected to the web, all kinds of dynamic real-time information can be displayed while remote access allows the retailer to program multiple branches, he added.
