LED lights all set to illuminate ORR in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The LED street lighting on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) main carriageway from Gachibowli to Shamshabad will be inaugurated near Nanakramguda toll plaza by Mayor B Rammohan on Sunday.

The street illumination on the 24.38-km main stretch will have a total of 929 poles with 1,858 bulbs of 210 watts spaced at 25m each. According to a press release, a total of 2,312 LED bulbs of 90 watts have been proposed for the service roads and for the up and down ramps, it has been decided to have 180 bulbs on 90 poles. The junction lighting proposed for the facility looks at 500 watts LED high focus lamps.

The LED lighting system will be provided with GSM-based automation system, web-based management, programming and reporting system, and the status of lighting can be controlled and monitored online from anywhere.

The proposed street light automation system will have dimmer option up to 50 per cent helping in reducing power consumption during low traffic time, the release added.
