ST Engineering announced that its Urban Solutions business will be extending its TransCore tolling technology currently used in the Salik Company (P.J.S.C.) (“Salik”) traffic toll system in Dubai, to a smart car park system at one of the largest malls in the world, Dubai Mall. The project involves integrating Urban Solutions’ barrier-free smart car park system (developed in Singapore) with the Salik traffic toll system (developed by TransCore) to enable automatic and ticketless parking fee collection at the mall which has over 13,000 parking lots.
This contract is awarded by Salik, Dubai’s toll gate operator, a long-standing TransCore customer who is responsible for the parking management system at Dubai Mall.

Seamless Convenience for Motorists
Using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, motorists who park at Dubai Mall will have their vehicle licence plate numbers automatically captured and identified for parking fee processing. With the majority of motorists in Dubai already having a Salik account, parking fees will automatically be deducted from their prepaid account, enabling a seamless and ticketless parking experience at Dubai Mall. The barrier-free system will also provide motorists a smooth entry and exit at the car park, avoiding traffic congestion issues.
Operational and Maintenance Cost Savings for Car Park Operations
The centralised management and control of car park operations on the smart car park platform will enable Salik to optimise manpower deployment, while an asset management module for preventive maintenance will prevent costly downtime.
