Smith, a leading global distributor of electronic components and semiconductors, announces its certification to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard at its distribution center in Singapore. The company previously achieved certification at its hubs in Houston, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam in 2012, 2013, and 2019, respectively. The accreditation demonstrates Smith’s unwavering commitment to quality, consistency, and delivering products and services that its customers depend on.

“As part of our efforts to continuously enhance our facilities, one of our top priorities is ensuring the precision and validity of our testing equipment and procedures,” said Terry Fu, Senior Vice President of Operations and Quality, APAC. “By obtaining this certification in Singapore, our customers can rest assured that Smith’s rigorous testing capabilities are both accurate and reliable at all of our operational facilities worldwide.”

ISO/IEC 17025 is an international standard for laboratory and calibration operations to establish requirements for quality, competence, and consistency. The certification provides third-party validation that Smith’s in-house testing of electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components is performed with the right equipment and proper procedures to ensure precision, accuracy, and reliability. Smith’s testing equipment is calibrated by a third party, and the company provides measurement to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and/or manufacturer standards.

Smith opened its Singapore operational hub in 2023, which mirrors the capabilities of its warehouses in Houston, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam. The 20,000-square-foot facility offers a full suite of inspection, testing, and storage for components and safely houses product across all stages of the supply chain.
