SynQor Soars with New Power Module for Drones and Airborne

The new MPFICQor power factor correction module from SynQor, built specifically for drones and underwing applications, delivers with an impressive 92% efficiency rating

SynQor’s latest military-grade isolated power conditioning module – MPFICQor – is designed specifically for the demanding requirements of airborne applications, such as underwing pods and ordnance systems in aircraft and drones. It’s now available across Europe and beyond through the global electronics distributor and supply chain partner, Astute Group.

The full-brick module provides efficient and dependable performance, even at lower power levels, making it ideal for applications where size, weight, and power consumption are critical considerations. It is an essential building block of an AC-DC or DC-DC power supply running from a source as defined by MIL-STD-704.

One of the standout features of the MPFIC is its exceptionally low total harmonic distortion (THD) at the AC input. With a THD of just 1.5%, it minimises electrical noise and ensures compliance with military standards including MIL-STD-1399. This is crucial in sensitive airborne environments where electromagnetic interference can disrupt critical systems.

The MPFICQor incorporates active power factor correction (PFC) technology, achieving a near-unity power factor of greater than 0.99 at full load. This high-power factor reduces reactive power draw, optimising system integration and enhancing overall stability and reliability.

Efficiency is paramount in airborne applications, and the MPFICQor delivers with an impressive 92% efficiency rating. This not only improves system performance but also facilitates superior thermal management, reducing heat generation and extending operational life.

Offered in the industry-standard full-brick form factor, the MPFICQor is designed to meet strict size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements. Its compact size and lightweight design make it ideal for integration into space-constrained airborne platforms.

SynQor emphasises the military standard compliance of its Mil-COTS converters, and the MPFIC is no exception. It meets a wide range of military standards, including MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1399, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and RTCA/DO-160, ensuring its suitability for harsh airborne environments and compatibility with military system designs.

With its combination of high efficiency, low THD, near-unity power factor, and military standard compliance, the MPFIC is poised to become a critical component in next-generation aircraft and drone systems. It provides a robust and reliable power solution for powering critical avionics, navigation systems, and other essential equipment in demanding airborne environments.
