Ratul Puri Accelerates Hindustan Power’s Renewable Expansion with Nearly 1 GW of Solar and 750 MWh of Energy Storage Projects Awarded in 2025

In line with the target of achieving a 5 GW energy portfolio by 2028

Hindustan Power, led by Chairman Ratul Puri, has secured a series of renewable-energy and battery-storage projects across several states this year, reflecting the company’s commitment to expanding its integrated clean-energy portfolio and contributing actively to India’s energy transition.

Since early 2025, the company has added almost 1GW of solar capacity and over 0.75 GWh of energy storage to its portfolio, including standalone solar plants and solution-based facilities that combine photovoltaic generation with battery storage. This expansion also reflects the government’s continued encouragement for power producers to integrate storage solutions as grid requirements evolve.

The company has signed a PPA with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for a 435 MWp solar project, to be developed under a 25-year power-purchase agreement.

In addition, the company also secured an inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected project from SJVN Limited, requiring 200 MWp of solar generation capacity installation with more than 250 MWh of battery storage.

Another major development comes from the Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited, where the company signed BESPA (Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement) for 120 MWh standalone storage project spread across three substations. The project will be developed under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model.

Most recently, the company secured a major win from SECI for an ISTS-connected project of 150 MW of contracted capacity, wherein approximately 300 MWp of solar and 360 MWh of battery storage will be installed. Awarded through a competitive bidding and e-reverse auction process, this project further strengthens the company’s expanding clean-energy and storage portfolio.

Commenting on these developments over the past year, Mr. Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, said, “By combining renewable generation with advanced storage, we are creating flexible, dispatchable power solutions that strengthen state grids and accelerate India’s transition to a sustainable energy future.”

These efforts reinforce Hindustan Power’s position as a key contributor to India’s energy security and to the nation’s transition toward sustainable power generation.
