Antaira LanoSync Q-Series – Antaira Technologies, a developer and manufacturer of industrial networking solutions, introduced the LanoSync™ Q-Series Industrial Network Switches. The five-model LanoSync Q-Series delivers advanced data transmission with Precise Time Protocol (PTP) synchronization for applications where networks must coordinate actions, correlate measurements, or reconstruct events with exact timing, such as factory automation, electrical substations, robotics and motion control, and multi-camera machine vision.
At the core of the Q-Series is IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol version 2 (PTPv2), supported in both Boundary Clock and Transparent Clock modes. As a Boundary Clock, LanoSync™ Q-Series switches recover time from the grandmaster and redistribute it downstream, isolating each network segment from upstream timing noise. As a Transparent Clock, the switches measure and correct the residence time of every PTP message, so switch latency never erodes accuracy. The result is synchronization tight enough for substation protection and IEC 61850 sampled values, multi-camera machine vision triggering, and time-stamped event logging across distributed SCADA systems.
“PLCs, robotic arms, servo drives, and sensors each have their own internal clock, which can drift over time,” explained Joe Cook, General Manager of Antaira Technologies. “LanoSync Q-Series switches correct timing errors and enable these devices and others to operate using a highly synchronized clock with sub-microsecond accuracy.”
ERPS Keeps Data Flowing Through Failure
The LanoSync Q-Series switch combines precise time synchronization with resilient network connectivity. While Precision Time Protocol (PTP) keeps industrial devices synchronized, ITU-T G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) helps maintain communication when a network link or node fails. If a fiber is cut or a node fails, the Q-Series automatically redirects traffic along an alternate path in under 50 milliseconds, minimizing disruption to critical operations.
As an open standard, G.8032 enables LanoSync switches to interoperate with compliant equipment from other vendors and supports complex multi-ring network topologies. This rapid recovery helps maintain the flow of control data, video streams, and telemetry even during network failures.
Together, PTP and ERPS deliver the precise timing and high availability required by mission-critical industrial networks. In electrical substations, manufacturing plants, and other industrial environments, ERPS rapidly restores network connectivity while PTP provides a common time reference across connected devices, helping ensure reliable, coordinated operations.
Flexible Connectivity, Powerful PoE and Industrial Durability
The LanoSync Q-Series combines versatile fiber connectivity, high-power PoE++ and rugged industrial design to support a wide range of demanding applications.
Flexible SFP+ uplinks accommodate 1G, 2.5G and 10G optics, allowing networks to scale from individual pump stations to high-speed ring backbones without replacing switches. Fiber connectivity extends network reach across plant floors, rail corridors and utility rights-of-way while eliminating electromagnetic interference.
Select Q-Series models also provide IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ with up to 90 W per port to power PTZ cameras, machine vision systems, wireless access points and edge devices through a single Ethernet cable, reducing installation costs and eliminating the need for separate field power supplies.
Engineered for harsh environments, every Q-Series switch operates across an extended temperature range of -40 to 85 °C (-40 to 185 °F), making it ideal for roadside cabinets, outdoor substations, industrial plants, rolling stock and defense installations without additional climate control.
