u-blox, a global leader in positioning and short-range communication technologies for automotive, industrial and consumer markets, announced JODY-B1, an automotive-qualified Bluetooth module capable of maintaining multiple simultaneous Bluetooth Dual-Mode (Classic + LE) connections.
As vehicles evolve into connected entertainment spaces, passengers increasingly expect individual control over their in-car audio and gaming experiences. While traditional combo modules support a few Bluetooth connections, they cannot scale to deliver a complete Bluetooth experience to all passengers in the vehicle. JODY-B1 overcomes this limitation by enabling additional Bluetooth connections – each operating independently – so every passenger can connect personal devices such as headsets, controllers, or tablets without interference or additional system complexity.
Based on the Snapdragon Auto Connectivity Platform from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc and the QCA8695AU automotive-grade chipset, JODY-B1 combines LE Audio support, operating temperature up to 105ºC, and a compact 13.8 × 19.8 mm form factor to deliver high-performance connectivity in a space-constrained automotive environment. Its host-based UART interface and global certifications (FCC, RED, ISED, UKCA, Bluetooth SIG) simplify system integration, allowing Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs to deploy multiple Bluetooth instances quickly.
Designed as part of the established u-blox JODY module family, JODY-B1 ensures design consistency and scalability across generations of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth solutions. This continuity, combined with u-blox’s proven automotive expertise, helps manufacturers streamline qualification processes and secure supply for long-term production lifecycles.
“Our collaboration with u-blox brings automotive grade Bluetooth technology based on Snapdragon Auto Connectivity Platforms into a compact module that makes individualized in car entertainment practical at scale,” said Riccardo Calabro, Senior Director Sales, Qualcomm Germany GmbH. “By pairing our platform with ublox’s JODYB1 module, automakers can support multiple concurrent Bluetooth connections for every passenger with less integration complexity—helping deliver advanced personalized in car experiences while accelerating time to market.”
With its unique multi-connection capability, robust automotive qualification, and pre-certified global compliance, JODY-B1 gives automakers a ready-to-use, future-proof solution that simplifies design, reduces risk, and enhances the in-vehicle experience.
