Aerospace conference scheduled for August

The SC Aerospace Industry Conference and Expo connects industry, academia and government to showcase the rapidly growing aerospace cluster in South Carolina.

Aerospace industry leaders, academicians and government officials are preparing to discuss one of the top industry clusters in South Carolina during the S.C. Aerospace Conference and Expo, scheduled for Aug. 29-31 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The aerospace industry in South Carolina has an annual economic impact of more than $19 billion, according to the S.C. Department of Commerce.

The first such conference and expo took place in 2013. Last year, more than 500 attendees and 50 exhibitors came from across the Southeastern United States to hear from Boeing South Carolina’s Joan Robinson-Berry, Aviation Week’s William Garvey and Carole Hedden, the Federal Aviation Administration’s Patricia Watts, and a number of other industry leaders, according to the S.C. Aerospace Conference website.

This year’s event will include a business and workforce development track, including a B2B matchmaking event, the ACE ‘17 Technical Symposium, an exhibit hall with company and student presentations, and a variety of tours and workshops.

A new website and social media channels have been launched to promote the annual event. The website – www.southcarolinaaerospaceconference.com – will provide information on the three-day conference and expo, including the programming lineup, an interactive exhibitor map, registration information and more. The Facebook page and Twitter account will offer news and updates from conference organizers in addition to news from South Carolina’s growing aerospace industry.

The speaker lineup for this year’s event has not been announced.  The three-day event will include two days of ACE Technical Symposium sessions, one day of Business and Workforce Development sessions, and a full exhibit hall with student and industry demonstrations.

Early-bird registration packages are available on the website.  Sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities are also available.

The S.C. Aerospace Conference and Expo is organized by the University of South Carolina’s McNair Center for Aerospace Research and Innovation, the S.C. Council on Competitiveness, the S.C. Department of Commerce, the S.C. Aeronautics Commission and the S.C. Aviation Association.
