V2 Smart Card Uses FPC Sensor, Precise Biometrics Software

“For now, the card is only being used for access control and employee time and attendance tracking at the newly opened casino, but FPC has indicated that expansionary plans are in the works that could see the V2 used by casino guests as payment cards.”

Precise Biometrics and Fingerprint Cards are celebrating an important step into the biometric smart card market with the first deployment of MeReal’s V2 card at the Pleinair Casino in the south of France.

The card features a built-in fingerprint sensor supplied by Fingerprint Cards, the FPC1320. And the device’s biometric software comes by way of Precise Biometrics, via its Precise BioMatch Embedded solution. Together, the technologies allow cardholders to be authenticated as they use their smart cards.

For now, the card is only being used for access control and employee time and attendance tracking at the newly opened casino, but FPC has indicated that expansionary plans are in the works that could see the V2 used by casino guests as payment cards. As such it may be seen as an important, long-term project in the emerging biometric payment cards market.

Looking to the short term, though, Precise Biometrics has indicated that it expects to start generating revenue from the V2 this quarter.
